Streaming is a good example of how creative the use of copyright can be. You can stream a song from any location once you have access to the internet these days, if you have a website your fans can listen to music and even download copies to their own personal devices.

Companies like Pandora, Sirius, iTunes, Spotify have all branded themselves as places to listen to the best music now and even at your leisure, in doing so the copyright holder has the ability to MONETIZE via streaming, a song, through say Apple Music. If a song is streamed from a personal/Artist website that they own there would be no revenue there for me unless a song, aside from the exposure, so streaming has brought about a new stream of cash for copyright holders. Downside to Monetized streaming through a service like Spotify or even iTunes is that the user on these digital platforms have no way to directly get in touch with a fan, essentially all the data associated with with a fan listening to your music on the platform belongs to the platform itself, so you won't know who your fans are or how to engage with them.
Branded streaming services, have become so popular that some have apps that come with phones ready to play generated playlist based on preference, genre, Algorithms etc, all from the data they collect from each user on the platform making the services easy to use. They have made it so easy to find music that it only makes sense to use them. If you want a greater reach of your music you would choose to use these services. But in the long run they wont build your fan base through engagement which is key to being successful.
